ATT Tilt Tip: How to use the PTT button to lock your phone

ATT Tilt PhoneDevice Lock is a small program developed by Matt Armstrong that allows us to assign the 'Device Lock' to a hardware key. The benefits are obvious - no need to have an icon on the today screen, and this program also eliminates the need to tap the screen to unlock the phone. Instructions on how to use the PTT button to lock the phone are below.

  • Download the Device Lock program (via XDA_Developers - registration required). Install it according to the instructions (copy the file to your phone and click on it to install - to the phone - not the storage card).

  • ATT Tilt PhoneFollow the instructions on remapping the PTT button (found here).

  • From the Start Menu, go to Setting -> Buttons. There should be a Button 6 which corresponds to a single press of the PTT Button; and Button 6 Hold which corresponds to a 'press and hold' of the same PTT button. Set one of those to Device Lock (I set Button 6 Hold).

  • To set the options for the Device Lock program, from the Start Menu, go to System -> Device Lock. Checking Easy Unlock eliminates having to tap the Today Screen to unlock.

I cannot find "device lock" as a possible choice to set the PTT (or any other button) to.

I looked for a Device Lock options menu but cannot find one.

Can you help me find a way to set a Button to device lock, I already edited my registry and added the Button 6 (hold) to the menu. I just need to be able to set it to 'device lock' because it is not currently a choice.

Thanks.

If you didn't download the device lock program, how would you see it?
