For the contacts on a Windows Mobile device that have multiple phone entries, the number (or email address) that is displayed on the screen by default, can be changed.

On the screen that has all the contacts listed, navigate to a contact so that it is highlighted (do not click to go into the contact details), press the directional pad Left and Right keys on the phone. The display will change which phone number (or email) is displayed and you should see the tiny "h" turn to "h", "w", "e" etc. The number that you stop at will be the default. Your phone remembers the choice next time you look for the same contact, so establishing a new default.
